Description

AMD Ryzen 5 5500F Six Core Socket AM4 4.4GHz Processor - Retail

The AMD Ryzen 5 5500F is a 6-core, 12-thread desktop processor built on AMD's Zen 3 architecture for Socket AM4, with a 3.6GHz base clock rising to 4.4GHz through Precision Boost. Backed by 16MB of cache and a 65W TDP, it delivers strong gaming and multitasking performance without demanding heavy cooling. The F designation means there is no integrated graphics, so a separate graphics card is required.

Performance

With 6 cores and 12 threads and 16MB of cache, the Ryzen 5 5500F handles modern gaming comfortably alongside browsing, streaming and general productivity. Its 3.6GHz base clock rises to 4.4GHz under load via Precision Boost, which raises clock speeds automatically whenever thermal and power headroom allow. A 65W TDP keeps heat output and power draw modest, so cooling requirements stay reasonable and the bundled or a modest aftermarket cooler is sufficient for most builds.

No Integrated Graphics

The F suffix denotes a processor without integrated graphics. That matters practically: the chip will not output video on its own, so a discrete graphics card is mandatory rather than optional. For a gaming build that is no limitation at all, since a graphics card is going in regardless, and AMD prices F-series chips below their equivalents with integrated graphics. It does mean you cannot troubleshoot or run the system without a GPU installed.

Socket AM4 Platform

Socket AM4 is a mature, hugely well-supported platform with DDR4 memory, and the breadth of compatible motherboards at every price point keeps overall build costs down. That makes it an excellent value choice for a new build or as a drop-in upgrade to an existing AM4 system. Check your motherboard's BIOS version supports the processor before installing.

Retail Boxed

This is the retail boxed edition. AMD supplies its retail processors with a three-year limited warranty, and Ryzen Master software allows monitoring and tuning from the desktop for anyone who wants to adjust clocks or voltages. Precision Boost Overdrive can extract additional performance automatically where cooling allows.
