The Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 is a dual-tower CPU air cooler. Twin heatsink towers and dual fans give it cooling capacity well beyond its price point. PWM fan control keeps it quiet at idle and raises speed only under load.

Thermalright Cooling Performance

Thermalright built its reputation on air coolers that match or beat far more expensive rivals, and the approach is consistent across the range: substantial heatpipe count, dense aluminium fin stacks and quality fans, with the money spent on thermal performance rather than packaging. Nickel-plated copper heatpipes make direct contact with the processor to move heat rapidly into the fin array, where the fans dissipate it. The result is cooling that comfortably outperforms the stock cooler bundled with most processors, at a price that rarely reflects it.

Dual-Tower Design

Two separate heatsink towers with a fan between them, and often a second on the outer face, roughly doubles the fin surface area compared with a single-tower cooler of similar height. That extra area is what allows the Peerless Assassin to compete with 240mm liquid coolers in independent testing, at a fraction of the cost and with no pump to fail. It handles high-core-count processors under sustained all-core load comfortably.

PWM Control and Compatibility

PWM fan control lets the motherboard vary fan speed automatically according to a temperature curve, so the system stays quiet during browsing and office work and only ramps up under sustained load. Mounting hardware covers current Intel and AMD sockets, and Thermalright's bracket system is straightforward to fit. Thermal compound is supplied in the box.
